The School of Spiritual Direction

The Spiritual Direction Certificate (SDC) is the original certificate by which Divine Mercy University began serving the ministry of Catholic Christian spiritual direction in January 2019.

The SDC is a comprehensive formation pathway for those called to walk alongside others in their spiritual journeys. Designed for both emerging and practicing spiritual directors, the SDC equips you with the theological foundation, practical tools, and supervised experience necessary to accompany others with confidence, compassion, and spiritual maturity.

A Structured Path of Formation

The SDC consists of four 8-week courses, carefully sequenced to build both competence and character in the ministry of spiritual direction.

SDC 300 – Relating Skills for Spiritual Direction (with residency on campus in week 7)
SDC 400 – Discernment and Spiritual Growth
SDC 500 – Advanced Spiritual Direction Skills and Practicum (Putting Out into the Deep with Week 2 Residency)
SDC 600 – Advanced Prayer and Situations

Each course combines teaching, reflection, supervised practice, and community learning.

SDC100 and SDC200 are prerequisites for acceptance into the full certificate program.
